Drake Jasso is a Founding Partner of ACME INC. ACME INC is a one stop company and website for collectors of modern and rare memorabilia and artifacts. ACME has added Drake’s vast collection of American weekly and monthly magazines (Life, Look, Saturday Evening Post, Sports Illustrated, TV Guide, Playboy, Fortune, Vogue, Colliers, Esquire, etc.) & rare newspapers (Los Angeles Times, Mirror, Herald; New York Times, Post, Daily News; Chicago Tribune, Daily News, Sun-Times and many more) along with PastTimes Collectibles ocean liner related items. His Playboy magazine & related materials collection is one of the largest in the world.

Drake founded PastTimes Collectibles © in 1993. It has become the premiere retail and online site for all things tied to the maritime world. The shop is located on the historic ocean liner Queen Mary's Promenade Deck.  The original premise was to sell historic magazines and newspapers tied to maritime travel and Ocean Liners.  As people found the store, they asked about buying Ocean Liner memorabilia along with the paper collectibles. Drake started tracking down and adding items that he found from his customers' private collections. With the advent of the Internet and EBay, he was able to purchase hundreds of items that met his growing customer requests. When the motion picture "Titanic" came out in 1997, demand for all things Ocean Liner skyrocketed. Add the ongoing, travelling Titanic artifact shows, displaying nationwide over the past 10 years, and you can understand why requests for Ocean Liner artifacts continue to this day. You can check out the website at www.pasttimescollectiblesonline.com

Drake has been instrumental in formulating, launching and helping to position ACME INC to become an important must see website for both collector and seller alike. He is an Accredited Personal Property Appraiser with the Appraisers National Association. He is married with 2 grown sons, a U.S. Army veteran and an Eagle Scout.

Kimberly Fanzo

Kimberly Fanzo -- Manager, Ocean Liner Memorabilia

Kimberly brings to ACME a wealth of first hand knowledge of Ocean Liners, and in particular the Cunard Super Liners:  Queen Mary (retired and now berthed in Long Beach California), Queen Elizabeth (retired), Queen Elizabeth 2 (now retired and berthed in Dubai) and the Queen Mary 2.  If you have any questions about Passenger Ships and Ocean Liners, Kimberly has become something of an expert.

Kimberly has been associated with the Queen Mary for many years, beginning at age seven when she took the tour for the first time.  Then at age 18 when she began working as a Wedding Planner in the Queen’s Royal Wedding Chapel and later became a Coordinator in the Catering Office for several years.  Most recently, she has had a hand in supervising and managing several retail gift stores onboard the majestic “Queen of the Seas,” and in particular our store -- PastTimes Collectibles.  During this time she has learned a great deal about the operations of the Ship as well as her vast history and legends.  Her greatest joy is learning of the personal experiences of the passengers and crew who revisit the ship on their travels.  As Kimberly often says, “I learn something new every day I am here.  All you have to do is pay attention.”

Kimberly is a Cum Laude graduate of Cal State Long Beach (Steven Spielberg’s alma mater) where she majored in the Humanities, Psychology and Criminal Justice.  She also took the time, when available, to tutor deaf and ESL students, and has served as a Camp Counselor for the YMCA/YWCA.

Kimberly’s hobbies have become her avocation and are all tied to her favorite subjects:  American and World History, Books (Agatha Christie, Shakespeare, George Orwell, Stephen King and Frank Herbert are just a few of her favorites), Travel (especially to U.S. National Parks and Monuments), all things British and seagoing, and of course, the Queen Mary -- “Her Ship”!

Kimberly has several times been a State Officer with the Supreme Emblem Club -- a charitable group affiliated with the Elks Lodges worldwide -- and is currently serving her fourth term as President of her local Club.

John Kamas

Picture
John Kamas--ACME Manager of Historical Research

John Kamas has a Bachelor's of Art in history from UCLA, and is Manager of Historical Research for ACME. He has been collecting Antiques and Specialty items since he was a child.

His collections started off with the usual stuff, such as marbles and baseball cards, until he was bit by the coin collecting bug, all of this by kindergarten.

Then the serious collecting bug hit; John developed an interest in Antique Autos. He was especially fascinated in how the styles of the autos kept changing and advancing from the horseless carriages of the turn of the century, to the 1950's chrome and fins.

He started collecting post cards of Antique Autos and as a result, got his Dad to take him to his first Antique Car Show at 8 years old!

After many years he had accumulated a large collection of old toy cars, including the highly prized matchbox “Models of Yesteryear", having collected every model ever issued!

When John turned 16 he was able to buy his first "real" car, a 1941 Buick 2 door Special Fastback. This led to a love of all things Buick.

He currently owns four classic Buicks, and is a 38 year member of the Buick Club of America.

It was his attention to detail as a child that led him to the movie “My Fair Lady” and Professor Henry Higgins' collection of the old wind up talking machines that used a metal horn for the reproduction of sound. John was hooked….and Horned!

He got his first old Edison cylinder phonograph complete with metal speaker horn when he was only 9.

Now John is an active member of the California Antique Phonograph Society", (CAPS), and has a house full of early wind up phonographs and rare records.

His interests in passenger ships also came at an early age, when his Mom bought him a model of the ocean liner Queen Mary. You can imagine how thrilled he was when the actual Queen Mary sailed into Long Beach on his birthday! Now, he also works part-time as a Manager of PastTimes Collectibles retail store located on….the Queen Mary!

John continues to collect antiques and special memorabilia with his wife Catherine. Their current mutual interest is in watching Silent Movies and enjoying the mighty Wurlitzer Organ at the Old Towne Music Hall in El Segundo, California.

Phil Decallejon--Consultant

Phil Decallejon has been a well respected Money Manager over the past 17 years.  His clients have included wealthy institutions, pension funds and high net individuals representing portfolios worth billions of dollars.  Among his insights and down to earth advice are a belief that high value, high quality collectibles can both enhance the performance and diversify one’s overall investment portfolio.  Such collectible have proven over time to be an effective hedge against the devaluing of paper assets thanks to their inherent scarcity and consistent demand.  He recommends maintaining a broad based investment portfolio that includes high value collectibles:

“In a world of uncertainty and the possibility of inflation, holding one’s entire portfolio in paper assets that only have worth to the extent the market imputes value to them can be dangerous.  Hard assets, on the other hand, things that people can touch and feel and that are irreplaceable always have value.  Conservative investors should always allocate a percentage of their investment portfolios to these tangible assets such as gold, art and high quality collectibles.  This asset class has maintained its value over time and is a great way to diversify one’s portfolio.”

Phil is joining the ACME team as a Consultant for Pension Benefits.
